Product review: Balm Balm Super Light Coconut Cleanser

For those of you who haven’t come across Balm Balm before (www.balmbalm.com), the company produces skincare, body care and fragrances which are 100% organic and 100% natural.

I first came across the Balm Balm Super Light Coconut Cleanser when it was included in the February box of my LoveLula subscription box (for those of you who are interested check out their website www.lovelula.com). The cleanser retails at £13.25 for 100ml.

I tend to only cleanse my face at night which means I’m looking for a product that will remove my makeup, waterproof mascara in particular, without making my eyes stream with tears or make my skin feel like the top layer has been scraped off. Over time, my skin has become increasingly sensitive and so what I put on my skin is becoming more important to me.

I had never used an oil cleanser before and wasn’t sure how I would feel about smearing my makeup all over my face. The instructions on the bottle say that once you have rubbed the oil into your skin, you should clean it off using a damp cotton wool pad.  Alternatively, it says you can also clean it off with a muslin and hot water for  a ‘deeper cleanse’. So far, my favourite way to use the cleanser is using a face cloth soaked in hot water. Squeeze out the excess water then lay the cloth on your face whilst gently pressing the cloth with your hands. Then wipe the oil away with the face cloth and that’s it.

The bottle has a spray top so you can easily control how much product you use. I have been using the cleanser for about two weeks now and I like to use four pumps to cleanse my face and neck.

After using the cleanser, my skin felt hydrated, moisturised, plumper and, most importantly, cleansed!

If, like me, you have dry skin, I think this product is a ‘must try’. I find my skin is at its best when each product I use in my daily routine hydrates and moisturises my skin, so you have a layering effect, which for me,  starts with cleansing.

Keep an eye out for more Balm Balm product reviews from me as I have the feeling this may be the start of a skincare love affair. This cleanser is a promising start to exploring the brand.
